Spioenkop Sarah Raal Chenin Blanc 2019

$260.00
750ml
Type: Spioenkop

Chenin Blanc thrives in South Africa's warmer climate, Spioenkop's estate is located in the cool climate of Elgin. This typifies the character of winemaker Koen Roose, a man who's not afraid to do things differently with stunning results. Aromas of white peach & pineapple followed by an earthy minerality. Rich tropical & lemon zest flavours rounded by a subtle creaminess as a result of lees ageing.

Spioenkop Wines

Koen Roose is the man behind Spioenkop, he is intimately involved in every step these wines take from the vines to the bottle. When you mention his name to people in the wine industry you are bound to get a reaction, an eccentric character who freely admits to being a bit crazy. Added to that you have a man who isn't afraid to do things differently, originally from Belgium, he arrived with a fresh perspective. Undaunted and resolute in his beliefs Koen has been doing things differently from day one, when he started his project in the Elgin Valley, and with stunning results! We constantly get asked for recommendations and his 1900 Pinotage always makes that list.
