The name ‘Verlatenkloof’ means ‘desolate valley’ in Afrikaans and is inspired by the origins of the wine. A once forgotten little valley, now revived, containing old bush vines which give this wine it’s concentrated black cherry & plum flavours. Another special, small batch wine from Pella, just 900 bottles of this beauty were produced.
I’d taste it last night, attractively nose with beautiful body, have it with little Brie.
Good match

Impressed with the first sip
I am usually not a merlot drinker. This one is very well-balanced and does not need much time to breathe. Very enjoyable bottle on its own and one to go for again.
